Plainfield Health Center Hosts Fifth Westry G. Horne Tennis Classic
Annual Event to Raise Money and Celebrate One of Its Own

For Immediate Release: Monday, September, 17, 2001, PLAINFIELD, NEW JERSEY- The Plainfield Health Center, one of twelve Federally Qualified Health Centers in New Jersey, dedicated to providing cost effective primary health care services for the residents of Plainfield and surrounding communities, announced today the fifth annual Westry G. Horne Tennis Classic. This event is a fundraiser for the Center, a community event, and an opportunity to honor a long-standing favorite son, patient, educator and tennis player, Westry Horne.

This year, the Classic is being sponsored, in part, by the Netherwood Tennis Club, which hosts the event, annually. The event will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2001 at the Netherwood Tennis Club on Coolidge Avenue in Plainfield. Play starts at 9:00 AM, with a buffet picnic beginning at 3:00PM. Player registration forms are available from the Plainfield Health Center Development Office. In addition to a fun competitive day of tennis, players receive boxed lunches and goody bags. Non-players can purchase tickets for the buffet, catered by Great Expectations, for a price of $35, from the Development Office as well.

About The Plainfield Health Center

The Plainfield Health Center, incorporated as the Plainfield Neighborhood Health Services Corporation, was born in 1969 under the auspices of the 1960's Model Cities Neighborhood Program. Led by a dedicated group of community activists, the Center was initially created to provide accessible health care to the residents of the West End of Plainfield.

Since then, the Center has grown, added more services, increased the number of specialties of professional health staff, and expanded its reach to the entire City of Plainfield and neighboring communities. Today, the Plainfield Health Center serves more than 16,000 patients annually. Its total care program provides adult medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, adolescent medicine, school based services, dentistry and ancillary support services.
