PRESS RELEASE Plainfield
Health Center Hosts Eighth Annual Gala For Immediate Release: Monday, April 26, 2004-PLAINFIELD, NEW JERSEY- The Plainfield Health Center (PHC), one of eighteen Federally Qualified Health Centers in New Jersey, dedicated to providing cost effective primary health care services for the residents of Plainfield and surrounding communities, announced its upcoming Gala and Silent Auction, to be held on Friday, May 7th at the Bridgewater Marriott. This year’s event marks the 35th Anniversary of the Plainfield Health Center, and honors retiring President and Chief Executive Officer, Julane Miller-Armbrister, who has been its visionary leader for nearly two decades. Under her leadership, PHC has ably fulfilled its mission as a vital “safety net” primary health care provider of choice for area residents. PHC has expanded access to services to over 21,000 patients at four locations, and to communities that span the greater tri-county area. Most significant has been Ms. Miller-Armbrister’s tireless advocacy for health care access, as a basic right for all, especially for those most vulnerable. This year’s event is being sponsored by Schering-Plough, The Marotta Family Foundation, PSE&G, New Jersey Primary Care Association, Solaris Health System, Ethicon, PNC Bank, AmeriChoice, GGK, LINKS of Raritan Valley, the Badalamenti Family, Horizon Mercy, Johnson Jones, and Tax John. Proceeds from this year’s Gala will benefit the Plainfield Health Center in its efforts to expand access to primary health care to thousands of additional patients over the coming year. “It is an honor and a privilege to recognize the contributions of Julane Miller-Armbrister,” said Plainfield Health Center Foundation Board Chair and PHC Founder Oliver J. Bartlett. “It is a very special occasion for the staff and boards of the Plainfield Health Center and the Plainfield Health Center Foundation to celebrate both the 35th Anniversary of the Center and the enormous contributions of an exceptional leader. She has truly left her mark on the health care community and the Plainfield community.” “We are so excited about this year’s Gala aimed at supporting enhanced access to health care for an even greater portion of our community, and honoring a true leader in the public health arena, Julane Miller-Armbrister,” said Paulette Hussey, Gala Chair. “Beyond the event’s success as a fundraiser, it is a guaranteed fabulous evening.” For additional information, to make a contribution to this year’s Gala, please contact the Foundation Office on 753-6401, extension 195. About The Plainfield Health Center The Plainfield Health Center, incorporated as the Plainfield Neighborhood Health Services Corporation, was born in 1969 under the auspices of the 1960's Model Cities Neighborhood Program. Led by a dedicated group of community activists, the Center was initially created to provide accessible health care to the residents of the West End of Plainfield. Since then, the Center has grown, added more services, increased the number of specialties of professional health staff, and expanded its reach to the entire City of Plainfield and neighboring communities, and to the City of Elizabeth. Today, the Plainfield Health Center serves more than 21,000 patients annually. Its total care program provides adult medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, adolescent medicine, school-based services, dentistry and ancillary support services. |
